Now on the VoIP world

Well, I was looking to start on this new world for quite some time, and after reading about the SMC’c official Skype phone, I thought it was the perfect time to buy one and start playing around with it.

I now have a Skype account (goukipt). Feel free to call me if you need anything.

I also updated my Contact page to include my VoIP information.

Here’s the weekend

Well, here’s the weekend! I love going to work but sometimes relaxing at home with your Xbox 360 and order in some food is just the perfect therapy.

Unfortunately I’ve been away from most of my Internet activities.

I plan on giving a boost to the IRC Statistics project and fix some things around my computer room. I also have a few pages I want to add to Ubuntu Wiki and create a screencast of how to create a hackergotchi. Hopefully I will start getting submissions to UbuntuWeblogs.org with proper images.

Launchpad BETA Testers received word from Mark warning about a new feature. Looks very interesting and I’ll play with it during the weekend, for sure.

And I’m off! Join me in Xbox Live if you want (GoukiPT).

Dew Iced Smoothie

I’m actually going to write about a drink. Yeah, I’m that bored.

I’ve been on vacations at my parents house for about two weeks now. During those 2 weeks I drank 72 Mountain Dew’s. This is the best thing about coming here. Even though they don’t live in the USA, we have an American Airbase that allows us to buy the good stuff - American food.

I love Mountain Dew. I wake up during the night to drink it.

I was visiting mountaindew.com when I found what is probably the best thing ever - Dew Iced Smoothie

Dear lazyweb,

If you happen to go to a Cold Stone Creamery, please, at least take a picture of the drink and send it to me.

PERFECT Customer Support - Amazon

I made a big order a few months ago with Amazon.com. I don’t use Amazon.co.uk, even though it would be cheaper and faster, because I want my DVDs to be Region 1 and because of the Box-Art. Europe, for some weird reason, has to mess up the cover of every DVD that gets here.

Usually a order from Amazon gets to Portugal within 3 weeks (max!) but I have to add another month (yes, a WHOLE god damn month!) which is the time the order is stuck on Customs. Even though I usually only get my stuff after 2 months of the order date, I still love having Region 1 DVD’s and books shipped from the US.

The other day I left the country and the guy from the post-office came by to deliver my latest order. Since no one answered the door, I had a form to get my order from the post-office HQ. The problem here is that they only keep the order for 6 days (assholes!) and I was away for almost 2 weeks. Long story short, I missed my order and it was all shipped back to Amazon.

When I contacted them because of my problem I had the best reply ever:

“We still haven’t received the order back, however, we will transfer the amount of the products plus the transportation fee to your bank account within 2 days.”

That’s it. No bullshit or making things hard for me. I got the money, made the order again and now I’ll just have to wait another 2 months.

PERFECT Customer Support!

My work area

I was writing this post when I headed to Planet Ubuntu and saw Brandon Holtsclaw post on work areas. Here’s a little ping to him.

The folks back home asked for some pictures, so I’ll just use a couple of them to show my new (still not ready) work area.

Picture #1; Picture #2; Picture #3

The two monitors on the far left are for the desktop, while the right monitor is for the barebone. More information about the hardware can be found on my Hardware page.

Besides Dapper Drake I’m also running Fluxbuntu on the barebone.

I know I’m late Santa, but can I still ask a official Ubuntu (Fubuntu?) version with Fluxbox? Or even Bubuntu (Blackbox)?

Finally, a day of happiness

I finally found some time to come back here and write a little something, even if it’s just rumbles of my personal life.

A couple of months ago I bought my first apartment. It has two bathrooms, two rooms (one used as office and the other as the bedroom) a big living room (with all my home cinema equipment) and finally a kitchen; yes, all just for me!

As I said, “a couple of months” have passed and unfortunately allot of maintenance had to be done in order to fix all the problems I had with the house (painting, broken doors, plumbing, etc), and yes, it’s a new apartment.

I won’t talk about the unlimited stupidity of construction workers…

Well, all the problems have been fixed and the last 5 day’s were dedicated to cleaning (ALLOT to clean) and setting up my office (assemble computers, organize wires, setting up my home network).

I’m now sitting on my new office chair typing this on my barebone. Ahhh, this is the life!

I’ll make sure to post some pictures on my gallery. The folks back home want to see how it turned out and you can also.

Dell 2007FP 20″

The monitor of my dreams has finally arrived. Actually, two of his brothers came along.

I hate them all…

People, that is. I don’t like going to malls, specially on weekends, when every single person on this country thinks that it is *the* place to spend quality time with the ones they love.

I try to prevent going to public places on weekends, but today I needed a router (WRT54G) and the mall was the only place open at 10PM.

I was having a smoke and looking at the people as they passed by. What a bunch of stressed out, monkey’s on crack, rude, jealous and purely stupid, people. I noticed the main discussion on a table was to trash-talk everyone who was not conventionally dressed. A young girl with a mini-skirt was so bad-mouthed I even felt sorry for her.

Why, and how do you have fun, talking trash about people who are living their life and not bothering you at all?

Like if I wasn’t sick enough, the drive back was even worst. Where did so many stupid fucks came from? Why do they have drivers license?!

Honestly, people are getting more stupid and disgusting by the second.
