Luckily for all PS3 owners, and Ubuntu users, the development of the port has been active for the last couple of weeks. Since the creation of the mailing list, things are starting to be discussed and plans for a good release are gaining shape.
Dan was kind enough to create a status email to let everyone know how things are going. Please read it on the mailing list archive.
Contrary to what we initially though, we won’t have a release in time of 8.04.1. Due to the number of active developers, it would be hard to have something done in time. We will, however, have a release ready for Intrepid Ibex, on October. You can help (please do) test the daily builds, who should be workable in a few weeks, before the official release.
We’re still in need of more active people to help us, so feel free to subscribe to the list and say ‘hello’. Really, it’s ok to do that.
In the meanwhile, you can always use the Custom Gutsy or check psubuntu.com for installation instructions for 8.04.
The Wiki has also been update with a section describing how you can help.
Any help is welcome, and we really need it.

Any chance of including these changes in Debian?
I’m sure it’s OK. Do you mind discussing it on the mailing list?
